Dust & Residues
Valorizing Industrial Dust & Residues
As part of Aperam Recycling, Recyco provides a unique capacity to transform complex metal-bearing waste into valuable secondary raw materials. Operating out of Isbergues, France, Recyco specializes in advanced pyrometallurgical treatment, processing industrial dusts, sludges, and manufacturing residues. These processes recover essential ferroalloys, returning melt-ready product blocks directly to stainless steel mills and other industrial partners.
Our mission is to close material loops, divert hazardous industrial waste from landfills, and significantly reduce Scope 3 CO₂ emissions for the global steel manufacturing sector.

- Meltshop Dust & Filter Dust: Flue dust and filtration particles generated during electric arc furnace (EAF) and converter operations.
- Mill Scale & Industrial Sludge: Metallic sludges, grinding residues, and scale produced during hot rolling, shaping, or finishing processes.
- Ferroalloy-Rich Residues: Metallic ashes, drosses, and slag-related fines containing recoverable nickel, chromium, or molybdenum content.
- Other Metallic Residues: Spent metallic materials, including specialized battery production scrap and process tails suitable for pyrometallurgical recovery.

Material Acceptance Procedure
The introduction of new materials and /or suppliers takes 10 to 12 weeks.
- Suppliers are asked to complete a FIP (preliminary identification sheet) for their own analysis on all elements of Recyco’s licence as well as health and safety risks. LINK
- A first internal material analysis is performed by Aperam through Aperam Recycling Stainless Netherlands, to whom a 2 kg sample needs to be provided. A second analysis takes place at Recyco upon material arrival and is validated by an external laboratory.
- The internal formal validation of the material is conducted by Recyco’s Medicine, Fire Safety, Security, Environment, Quality, Laboratory and Production departments.
- The issued acceptance certificate is valid for one year; after that, a review will take place.
When the material is processed by Recyco for the first time, measurements are taken throughout the production run and an overall assessment is carried out following the initial trial run.
New Supplier Check list
- Is the waste code of the material in the list of registered waste codes
- Are all elements of the permit analysed for
- Are all elements within the limit of the permit
- Is the origin of the waste EU or Switzerland
- Does the material contain Ni > 8%, Cr > 20 % or Mo > x %
